" La Vallée de la Lune est une zone protégée municipale1 et une formation géologique de la ville de La Paz, siège du gouvernement bolivien. Il est situé à environ 10 kilomètres du centre urbain de la ville et appartient administrativement au quartier Macro de Mallasa.
Toponymie
Son nom a été donné par Neil Armstrong, le premier homme à avoir posé le pied sur la lune, qui visitait le siège du gouvernement bolivien en 1969. Après avoir été témoin d'un match entre The Strongest et Bolívar, Armstrong se préparait à jouer au golf et étant donné le proximité de ce lieu avec le terrain de golf, il a vu la similitude qui existait avec les paysages de la lune et a décidé de le nommer ainsi.
Géologie
La Vallée de la Lune est une section où l'érosion a consommé la partie supérieure d'une montagne. Le sol n'étant pas solide, l'argile au lieu de la roche, au fil des siècles les éléments ont créé une œuvre d'art quelque peu différente. C'est comme un désert de stalagmites. Il a des similitudes avec un autre quartier de La Paz, connu sous le nom de Vallée des Âmes.
Les montagnes autour de La Paz sont faites d'argile. Ce qui est intéressant, c'est que cette argile contient certains minéraux et il semble qu'ils ne soient pas les mêmes ou que leur pourcentage varie d'une montagne à l'autre. En conséquence, la couleur des jupes est différente, créant des illusions d'optique très attrayantes. Ils sont pour la plupart d'une couleur claire ressemblant au beige ou au marron très pâle. Il y a aussi des zones presque rouges en plus de présenter des couleurs violet foncé.
Accès et activités
L'accès au secteur se fait par la route de Mallasa à travers la zone de Calacoto, au sud de la ville. Les promenades et l'observation de la nature sont pratiquées dans la région.
Dans la nuit du 21 juin, la fête de San Juan, des événements organisés par la municipalité permettent des promenades nocturnes dans le lieu, qui sont organisées avec des thèmes liés à l'astronomie, aux voyages dans l'espace et aux films de fiction."
