The Great Siege Tunnels in the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar, are a series of tunnels inside the northern end of the Rock of Gibraltar. They were dug out from the solid limestone by the British during the Great Siege of Gibraltar of the late 18th century.
La Línea de la Concepción, more often referred to as La Línea, is a municipality of Spain belonging to the province of Cádiz, Andalusia. La Linea was, and still is, a supplier of fresh produce from its open and fertile land area as well as it's population supplying workers, mainly for the Gibraltar Dockyard.
A peculiarity of Gibraltar International Airport is that Winston Churchill Avenue (the main road towards the land border with Spain) intersects the airport runway, and therefore must be closed whenever an airplane is landing or departing. It took us hours with the car to cross the border back to Spain. Despite this inconvenience we loved our visit to Gibraltar.
