Inscription on the panel located in front of the church:
In 1818, Reverend Brooke Bridges Stevens settled in Chambly. He was the chaplain of the militia and also served the civilian population, made up of Loyalists refugees and British Colonialists. However, the plan for the church is attributed to Reverend Edward Perkin, Chaplain Stevens successor and first pastor of the church. In 1820, construction on the church was entrusted to master carpenter Francois Valide and master joiner Antoine Monet. Master stonemasons Louis Duchatel and Francois Morier were hired to carry out the "structural work and coatings". The Church was erected on land of the military camp, the fort's suburb, to serve both the military and Chambly's Anglophone population.
