First Baptist Church - West Hartford, CT - Baptist Churches on Waymarking.com

The First Baptist Church of West Hartford was established in 1858. Their first church was completed the following year. In 1938, the present Greek Revival style church was built on North Main Street. (visit link)

A set of steps leads up to a portico entrance. The pediment above is supported by two Ionic columns. There are also two Doric piasters on each side of the building. The central entrance is flanked by two smaller entrances. On the second level above the main entrance is a a double set of 3 by 4 pane double hung windows. Above the side entrances are 4 by 4 pane double hung windows.

Rising from the gable roof is a four stage steeple. The two lower stages are square towers. Above is a belfry with louvered windows flanked by columns. On top is an octagonal spire topped by a weather vane.

The sides of the church have five two story high 4 by 9 triple hung windows. At the back of the church there is an addition with an auxiliary entrance on the north side.
