The town is a down to earth, no-nonsense kind of place. Population is around 1200 versus 924 in 1937. The town doesn't look like it changed much since the AGS description.

IRASBURG (alt. 947, pop. township 924), 53.6 m., named for Ira Allen,
is ranged around a large open square on a level plateau above the Black
River Valley. The buildings along the north side of the square, which
were razed by a fire, have been replaced by smaller and more modern
structures that still retain an appearance of drabness. The community
depends on lumbering and dairying for its livelihood. Once the shire town of Orleans County, this centrally located village was the active nucleus about which the political and business life of the county revolved,
and the spacious square, that today seems so emptily quiet, was generally a busy scene. The Leach Public Library (open Mon., Wed., Sat., evenings
and Sat. afternoon) (R), is a small, neat structure in tapestry brick. A
white high-spired Federated Protestant Church (R) graces the southeast
corner of the square. A few uncommon mansard roofs are seen on the dwelling-houses, but the stores and homes ranked around the open square
are unattractive on the whole.

The above description of the town is not so complementary, while I would agree with it from a visual standpoint, there is something that would indicate this place could be a diamond in the rough. Visiting the town, the appearance reflects a down to earth, hard work and a no-nonsense attitude kind of beauty. In my research on the town I could not find a town website that was created by the town. I had a pleasure to speak to one of the town folk lasting 45 minutes or so which gave me a whole different perspective on Irasburg.
