The Platinum Jubilee was celebrated in June 2022 and as indicated in the text above the Queen sadly died on 8th September 2022.
The bench is at the entrance to Walton Colliery Country Park, next to the car park.
The area in the park was originally a coal mine which closed in 1979. The area was then landscaped and is now designated a Local Nature Reserve – managed to protect and improve its habitats for the benefit of wildlife. It has a number of easy walking paths and cycle tracks.
The following text is worked into the metal work of the bench.
