[PL] Jeden z trzech zachowanych w Polsce oryginalnych samolotów MiG-17PF o numerze fabrycznym 58310949 i numerze bocznym 949. Ustawiono go na postumencie przy skrzyzowaniu al. Jana Pawla II z ul. Ilzecka na osiedlu Pulanki.
Samolot zostal wyprodukowany w Zakladzie nr 21 w Gorki i dostarczony do Polski w maju 1955 r. Poczatkowo byl uzywany przez 21 Samodzielna Eskadre Lotnictwa Mysliwskiego w Warszawie. Pózniej sluzyl Wyzszej Szkole Pilotazu w Modlinie oraz kolejno w 28, 41 i 26 Pulku Lotnictwa Mysliwskiego, odpowiednio w Slupsku, Malborku i Zegrzu Pomorskim. Nastepnie nastapila jego kasacja. Laczny nalot samolotu to 5300 godzin.
Pierwszym polskim pilotem MiG-a byl Jan Czajka, a pierwszym technikiem por. Kurowski. Maszyna latalo wielu pilotów, ale najbardziej znanym jest Wladyslaw Hermaszewski - pózniejszy general brygady i starszy brat kosmonauty Miroslawa Hermaszewskiego.
Samolot zostal podarowany miastu z okazji 40-lecia PRL-u. W lipcu 2010 roku Ostrowiecka Spóldzielnia Mieszkaniowa próbowala sprzedac samolot, ale decyzja wywola sprzeciw mieszkanców Ostrowca i milosników lotnictwa z calej Polski. Samolot ma duze znaczenie dla miasta. Jest punktem orientacyjnym i lokalna atrakcjom, widnieje nawet na pocztówkach, które mozna kupic w miescie. Ostatecznie samolot gruntownie odremontowano i podswietlono.

[EN] One of the three original MiG-17PF aircraft preserved in Poland with serial number 58310949 and side number 949. It was placed on a pedestal at the intersection of al. John Paul II from ul. Ilzecka in the Pulanki estate.
The aircraft was manufactured in Plant No. 21 in Gorki and delivered to Poland in May 1955. Initially, it was used by the 21st Independent Fighter Aviation Squadron in Warsaw. Later, it served at the Pilotage Academy in Modlin and subsequently in the 28th, 41st, and 26th Fighter Aviation Regiment, respectively in Slupsk, Malbork, and Zegrze Pomorskie. It was then retired. The total flight time of the aircraft is 5,300 hours.
The first Polish pilot of the MiG was Jan Czajka, and the first technician was Lt. Kurowski. The machine was flown by many pilots, but the most famous is Wladyslaw Hermaszewski - later brigadier general and older brother of the cosmonaut Miroslaw Hermaszewski.
The plane was donated to the city on the 40th anniversary of the People's Republic of Poland. In July 2010, Ostrowiecka Spóldzielnia Mieszkaniowa tried to sell the plane, but the decision caused opposition from Ostrowiec residents and aviation enthusiasts from all over Poland. The aircraft is of great importance to the city. It is a landmark and local attraction, it even appears on postcards that can be bought in the city. Finally, the plane was thoroughly renovated and illuminated.
