MP 13895 was built in 1980. It is referred to as a short bay or "transfer" caboose, as the side-mounted cupola allowed for better viewing of the train by the conductor, especially in switching duties.

The caboose was retired by MP at near the end of the 1980's when the FCC determined that cabooses were no longer required on all trains.

Following acquisition by the Galveston Railroad Museum, the caboose has been maintained in road condition. The unit is open for walk-throughs when not in use on short tourist excursions.
Current Use:
Display caboose, used occasionally for passenger excursions.
