Se encuentra actualmente en estado de ruina debido a los efectos de la Guerra Civil Española durante la Batalla de Belchite así como al posterior abandono del pueblo.
Está construida totalmente en ladrillo y originalmente presentaba planta cuadrada, estructura de alminar almohade, con machón central hueco, y dos cuerpos en altura más un remate de forma piramidal. Los bombardeos ocasionaron la pérdida del remate y del segundo piso, que cumplía función de cuerpo de campanas. Actualmente el primer piso sólo conserva decoración en su parte superior, observándose diversos frisos de esquinillas al tresbolillo y de cruces de varios brazos formando rombos. El reloj que le daba nombre fue colocado en el siglo XVIII, rompiendo para ello un vano geminado de medio punto.
En el año 2002, el Gobierno de Aragón encargó al estudio BAU (Borobio, Arquitectura y Urbanismo) su restauración. Los objetivos fundamentales planteados en el proyecto fueron la estabilización del desplome de la torre, su refuerzo estructural, la reparación de la escalera y de su núcleo central y, sobre todo, la consolidación y el cierre superior del monumento para que la lluvia no siguiera afectando negativamente a su conservación. La acertada intervención arquitectónica, de corte contemporáneo, respeta los restos originales y hace que destaquen, a simple vista, los valores históricos y artísticos del monumento.
It is currently in a state of ruin due to the effects of the Spanish Civil War during the Battle of Belchite as well as the subsequent abandonment of the town.
It is built entirely of brick and originally had a square floor plan, an Almohad minaret structure, with a hollow central pier, and two bodies in height plus a pyramidal finish. The bombardments caused the loss of the auction and the second floor, which served as a bell body. Currently the first floor only preserves decoration in its upper part, observing various friezes with staggered corners and crosses with several arms forming diamonds. The clock that gave it its name was placed in the 18th century, breaking a semicircular geminate opening for it.
In 2002, the Government of Aragon commissioned the BAU studio (Borobio, Architecture and Urbanism) to restore it. The fundamental objectives set out in the project were the stabilization of the collapse of the tower, its structural reinforcement, the repair of the staircase and its central core and, above all, the consolidation and upper closure of the monument so that the rain would not continue affecting negatively to its conservation. The successful architectural intervention, of a contemporary nature, respects the original remains and makes the historical and artistic values ??of the monument stand out at first glance.
