Opened in November 1999, this velodrome was built for the 2000 Olympics and Paralympics. At the time the capacity of the venue was increased by having temporary seating available.
It was the scene for several world records and is a legacy of participation in the Olympics. It was designed to be energy efficient having high levels of ventilation which do not require air conditioning. The venue is used for state competitions and is a high quality cycling venue.
