The Mennonite congregation in Skippack was first established back in 1703. In 1848 the congregation split into two groups the Mennonite Church [MC] and the General Conference Mennonite Church [GCMC] with the present congregation joining the Mennonite Church denomination. In 1950 the congregation moved to the present location and started Upper Skippack Mennonite Church which is now the Wellspring Church of Skippack. In 2003 the two denominations united to form the Mennonite Church USA.
As Mennonites they: follow Jesus guided by the Spirit, reject violence and resisting injustice in all forms, and in all places, and believe that the Holy Spirit dwells in and among us, transforming us to reflect God’s love.
The rectangular brick building with a white foundation and a gable roof has a set of steps leading up to a front gable entrance flanked by a pair of 3 by 4 pane double hung windows. Above the entrance is the original name of the church a UPPER SKIPPACK MENNONITE CHURCH. There is a smaller window at the attic level. A ramp on the northeast corner.
The sides are five bays wide with brick columns separating the bays. Each bay has a 3 by 4 pane double hung window and a window at the foundation. The last bay on the northwest has steps leading down to a basement entrance.
