[EN] “In 1923, his parents and six siblings moved to Madrid, to La Elipa, a suburban neighborhood where not even the streets had names.

Due to its proximity to the Cementerio del Este, Juan learned to work with stone, which he did not like very much, but workers were needed in the marble workshops. Who was going to tell him that this job would probably save his life later.

The coup caught him in Segovia, fulfilling his Military Service, but Juan crossed the Sierra on foot to come to Madrid. Once here, along with his brother Damián, they went to Albacete with the intention of fulfilling his dream, learning to fly.

Juan, due to vision problems, did not pass the tests, but Damián did. A few months later he died from a sabotage on his plane.

Juan was in the artillery corps on the Levante and Aragon fronts until in 1939, like thousands of his comrades, he went into exile in France. He requested help from the Mexican government to be able to emigrate, but was unsuccessful.

He was detained in Hohenfels and Moosbourg (Germany) and from there he was deported to Mauthausen on August 5, 1940. His trade probably allowed him to survive and be released on May 5, 1945.

His stolperstein was placed on December 16, 2021 at 29 Apóstol Santiago street.”
