Texas State Historical Association"Construction began in June 1948 at an eight-acre site on the north side of the community, and the center was dedicated in September 1950. It employed fourteen physicians, two dentists, forty-two nurses, and various aides and had bed space for 222 patients. The center provided both acute and intermediate medical care, rehabilitation services, and ambulatory care.
The primary mission of the center at Marlin was to provide for the rehabilitation and treatment of chronically or acutely ill or aging veterans."

"The former Veterans Affairs hospital in Marlin has finally been purchased after five years of trying to revitalize the building.
Merkabah Incorporated has bought the building (2022) and will spend around $5,000,000 to turn the former hospital into a specialty group.
The specialty group will include acute care, outpatient and mental health care. Living quarters will also be provided for staff and training for nurses.
The hospital originally was closed as part of a consolidation of VA services in 2005."
This water tower is just one of four in the City of Marlin. The city has had a series of water outages over the past few years. The Texas Water Development Board granted the city of Marlin more than $10 million to fix ongoing issues with its water in 2019. But residents again lost water in 2021 (big freeze bust many of cities aging water lines and tanks drained).
The VA tank sits on top of a metal tower with four legs. There is a central pipe. The tower provides water for residential, commercial, industrial, and fire protection use.
