[FR] La petite place qui, venant du Pont Vieux donne accès aux rues Margontier et Basse, et ainsi à la vieille cité de Saint Sour, sur la rive gauche de la Vézère, s’est embellie d’une première fontaine. Modeste élégance qui laisse au passant le soin d’habiller ses yeux, après avoir affronté l’avantageuse vue sur la falaise du Malpas, que procure la traversée de la rivière en ce passage millénaire. La fontaine regarde avec une romantique indolence l’antique rue Basse qui était, à l’origine, qu’un petit passage naturel entre la Vézère et la falaise. Tout proche, presque caché, un symbole de maréchal-ferrant rappelle que la rue possédait ses échoppes. Depuis quelques années, ce lieu reprend progressivement des couleurs et la vie s’y rétablit.

[EN] The small square which, coming from the Old Bridge, gives access to the Margontier and Basse streets, and thus to the old town of Saint Sour, on the left bank of the Vézère, has been embellished with a first fountain. Modest elegance that leaves to the passer-by the care to dress his eyes, after having faced the advantageous sight on the cliff of Malpas, that gets the crossing of the river in this millenary passage. The fountain looks with a romantic indolence at the ancient rue Basse, which was originally a small natural passage between the Vézère and the cliff. Nearby, almost hidden, a symbol of a blacksmith reminds us that the street had its shops. For a few years, this place has been gradually recovering its colors and life has been re-established.
