The Royal Palace in Phnom Penh is a complex of buildings which serves as the royal residence of the king of Cambodia.
The Kings of Cambodia have occupied the Royal Palace since it was built in 1860's, with a period of absence when the country came into turmoil during and after the reign of the Khmer Rouge.
The palace has always been a popular tourist attraction in Phnom Penh. Visitors are able to wander around the Silver Pagoda compound and the central compound containing the Throne Hall and Chan Chhaya Pavilion. The King's living area, which actually takes up half of the total palace ground area is closed to the public.
Our photos show the Throne Hall, the Damnak Chan, the Silver Pagoda, the Stupa of King Norodom I and a miniature model of Angkor Wat.
Open everyday 8:00-11:00 and 14:00-17:00.
