The bridge has collapsed since the guide was written. The bridge began restoration in 2002. Before it was finished a tornado struck the bridge in 2003, causing a large portion of the bridge to collapse.

Right from Mt.Jewett on an unmarked, macadamized road, winding through oil and gas fields in the midst of forests, to a junction with a dirt road 2.9 m.; R. here 0.5 in. to a junction with a hazardous dirt road; L. here 1 mn. to a point below the KINZUA BRIDGE. This lofty, steel network, which carries the Erie Railroad tracks across Kinzua valley, is 301 feet high and 2,050 feet long.
