The temple is located in the vicinity of Hué, the former imperial capital of Vietnam.
In Vietnam, the ancestor worship is very important. In each and every family, there is an ancestor altar to recall their memory, give them presents and make prayers. It's the duty of the eldest son to perpetuate this cult.
However, at the court of the emperor, the eunuch were in charge of serving his mid-wives. By definition, they couldn't have any son. Therefore, they would be forgotten after their death.
That's why they decided to build a Temple dedicated to their souvenir.
