A hundred years ago, you could buy women's and childrens clothing in the building of the present Taco Bell in Amersfoort.

NL Ik heb de Taco Bell op de Varkenmarkt 9 gewaymarked. Toch maar eens kijken of ik wat meer van de geschiedenis van dit pand kan vinden. En toen kwam ik uit het Amersfoortsch Dagblad van 4 december 1926 deze prachtige advertentie tegen. Destijds was er Mantelmagazijn De Adelaar gevestigd. Dit was volgens de advertentie de grootste en meest gesorteerd speciaal huis in dames- en kinder-confectie. Ze boden ‘Buitengewoon Voordeelige Aanbiedingen’ aan.

Ik heb zelfs in het Utrechts Archief een foto uit de tweede helft van de jaren ’20 gevonden waar het noorden van de Varkensmarkt opstaat. Ik heb een cirkel gezet om het pand van ‘de Adelaar’.
ENG I waymarked the Taco Bell at 9 Varkenmarkt. Let's see if I can find some more of the history of this building. And then I came across this beautiful advertisement from the Amersfoortsch Dagblad of December 4, 1926. At the time Mantelmagazijn De Adelaar (The Eagle) was located there. According to the advertisement, this was the largest and most assorted special house in women's and children's clothing. They offered "Extremely Advantageous Offers".

I could even find a photo from the second half of the 1920s in the Utrecht Archive that shows the north of the Varkensmarkt. I have put a circle around the building of 'de Adelaar'.
