Through figurative expressionism, the artist pays homage to the profession of the water carrier in Granada, a trade that survived from the 11th century to the mid-20th century.

The sculpture is made of life-size bronze and represents the typical rude and poor character, with his clothes in tatters. A hat covers his head that reminds us of the bandits of the 19th century. The water carrier carries a glass in his left hand, with which he offers water through the streets, and is accompanied by a donkey loaded on each side with demijohns.

The set is placed on a cobbled platform, which covers what in the 80s was a fountain, a meeting point for hip hop lovers, who called it the "Hexagon".

The water carrier or aguaor, has been throughout history a trade of enormous importance in Andalusia and in a good part of Spain. His activity consisted of the street sale of water in the city, both to pedestrians and supplying it to houses that did not have water. In these houses it was common to have one or several vessels where the water was stored.

The water carriers with the help of donkeys carried water in large clay, metal or glass jars, which they placed inside serones. To keep the water fresh they used to wet the esparto grass.
