V 17 (HE0433) - Oswego, KS - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

Disclaimer: My usual criteria for setting benchmark disks as waymarks is that they be accessible to the public. However, as Groundspeak is removing benchmarking from the geocaching web site, I will post some here that may be a little on the edge so that their memory can be preserved. After all, these will soon be the only photographs of this mark in existence!

To reach this mark, park on the north side of the co-op elevator and walk towards the rail line. It is a little rough going but you will not be crossing any fences or (to my knowledge) trespassing. You will reach a rusty old barbed-wire fence. Go to the fence corner, face the tracks, and look behind the large tree to your left. The mark is on a concrete monument. It is stamped V 17 and bears the year 1933.

The other interesting feature of this location is that to the northeast two rail lines cross at a right angle! You don't see that very often.
