Abel Russell Ward Home is being designated due its architectural and historical interest, having been built in the early 1830's for Abel Ward, one of the founders of Smiths Falls. The Neo Classical house is constructed of natural cut brown sandstone, being two and one half stories with three columned porches, two of which have upper wooden railings. The building has decorated brick chimneys and
three bay windows containing some stained glass and is surrounded by an ornamental iron fence.
