The Congregationalist first gathered in Bolton in 1725. The current Bolton Congregational Church was built in 1848. In 1851 a new entrance and a spire was added but the spire removed 1896. The one story high building is 34' wide and 56 ft deep. It has a gable roof and a portico entrance. The pediment above the entrance is supported by two fluted Ionic columns. The central entrance is flanked by a pair of Doric pilasters.
Rising from the gable roof is a three stage steeple. The lower stage is a short square tower. Above is a slightly smaller but taller tower with a short pediment. On top is a belfry with with louvered windows flanked by Doric columns and piasters on each side. The northeast side has an two bay long extension between the third and fourth bays.
The sides of the building are four bays wide. Each bay has a triple multi-pane window flanked by black shutters. At the stone foundation level are four square five by four double hung windows.
