The original "leg lamp" played a small but hilarious role in the 1983 comedy film A Christmas Story. This forty-foot replica, atop a ten-foot crate marked "fragile" (which, as we know, is pronounced "Fra-gee-lay") was unveiled in November 2022 in this small downtown park to honor the designer, Oklahoma University visual arts teacher Noland James. It is claimed that a man at the university who was fascinated by the original and visited James' office many times to admire it was later on the production crew of the film, so Chickasha claims to be the origin of this famous (or infamous) piece.
