The north aisle has a font of Saxon origins, and Norman pillars which may well rest on Saxon foundations.

A circular font with a cylindrical bowl, decorated with semi-circular arcading in low relief.

"The Saxon font is undoubtedly the oldest item in the church. It was gifted to the Parish in 1888 by Sir Charles Cammell having been found in the garden of Brookfield Manor in Hathersage and remained in the church ever since. It has been suggested that this may have even originated in Eyam, but whatever its origins, its importance is highly significant, as together with the Saxon cross and related artefacts at other locations such as Bakewell, this give an indication of the earliest ministry in north Derbyshire."
