"In het jaar 1312 werd de basis gelegd voor de devotie tot Onze Lieve Vrouw ter Nood Gods op de Molenberg in Bergharen. Deze openbare bidplaats bevindt zich op het hoogste punt (21,3 meter) in het Land van Maas en Waal. Typerend voor die tijd was dat een bedevaartsoord ook een kruisweg hoorde te hebben. Rondom de veldkapel (vandaar de naam Kapelberg) was reeds een eenvoudige kruisweg aangelegd, maar een meer solide kwam er tussen 1945 en 1949.
Door de poort, direct rechts, kun je de kruisweg met vijftien staties lopen. Het slingert door het bos onderlangs en om de berg omhoog en komt boven, links bij de Mariakapel uit. In het kruiswegpark staan veertien kleine kapelletjes met prachtige in klei gebakken, geglazuurde voorstellingen van de kruisweg die Jezus moest gaan. Deze zijn vervaardigd door kunstenaar Jac Maris.
Statie dertien (Jezus wordt van het kruis afgenomen) week echter af van de andere staties en is niet door Maris vervaardigd. Het betrof een kruis op een kleine rotsberg (Calvarieberg symboliserend) met een beeld van Maria daaronder. Door invloeden van buitenaf was deze statie als snel toe aan vervanging. Maris’ assistente Els Tervoort heeft toen in de stijl van de andere staties de huidige dertiende statie ontworpen."

"In the year 1312, the foundation was laid for the devotion to Our Lady in Distress on the Molenberg in Bergharen. This public place of worship is located at the highest point (21.3 meters) in the Land van Maas en Waal. Typical for that time was when a place of pilgrimage should also have a way of the cross.A simple way of the cross had already been built around the field chapel (hence the name Kapelberg), but a more solid one was built between 1945 and 1949.
Through the gate, immediately to the right, you can walk the fifteen stations of the Cross. It winds through the forest below and around the mountain and comes out on the left at the Lady Chapel. In the Stations of the Cross Park there are fourteen small chapels with beautiful clay-baked, glazed representations of the Stations of the Cross that Jesus had to go through. These are made by artist Jac Maris.
Station thirteen (Jesus is taken down from the cross), however, differed from the other stations and was not made by Maris. It concerned a cross on a small rocky mountain (symbolising Mount Calvary) with a statue of Mary below it. Due to external influences, this station was soon due for replacement. Maris' assistant Els Tervoort then designed the current thirteenth station in the style of the other stations."
