As swell as a traditional hanging sign at the front of the pub, there is a larger metal shield on the side of the pub.
The Oddfellows is a friendly society, originally formed over 200 years ago, now has 113 branches throughout the UK.
They are a non profit mutual society, that provides help for members via social care and financial benefits.
Oddfellows societies often used pubs as the base for regular Society business. When members met, they often ‘took something for the good of the house’ and landlords then named the pub after them. Oddfellows Arms remains a popular pub name to this day.
