The Royal British Legion (RBL), formerly the British Legion, is a British charity providing financial, social and emotional support to members and veterans of the British Armed Forces, their families and dependants, as well as all others in need.

 Characteristics of this cross: The shaft of the cross has a carved Dove of Peace on it.
The plinth of the cross has a multi-war dedication and two war quote inscriptions.
The first quote on the left hand face is an epitaph written by John Maxwell Edmonds who had worked for the War Office as a code breaker during World War I. It is one of 12 such epitaphs that he had written as suggestions of epitaphs for memorials to be erected after the war.
The second quote on the right hand face is an extract from the war poem 'For The Fallen' by Laurence Binyon. It is the fourth stanza of the poem and has been adopted by the Royal British Legion as an Exhortation for ceremonies of Remembrance to commemorate fallen Servicemen and women.
