About the artist: Jens Ingvard Hansen, a trained toolmaker, taught himself to be a sculptor. The first exhibitions of his works took place in 2004. His figures and forms usually begin as a geometric pattern on paper and are then elevated to the third dimension, often becoming very abstract. Materials he uses are mostly granite and bronze.
About the artwork: "Vindrosen" is a 2020 commissioned work by the "Poul Erik Bech Fonden" foundation. The basic form is a 2.6m high and about 1.2m diameter ellipsoid with three semicircular elements emphasized by incisions. Stainless steel was used for the sculpture, which was polished to a high gloss; the mirror effect results in new ways of looking at the surroundings. It was placed at the corner of Torvegade and Slotsgade in Varde.
