The train no longer runs and the tracks are long gone but the Santa Fe Depot in Carmen (population 350) is still standing. It is (or at least was) serving as a railroad museum, and this red caboose on display as well. Based on old photos found online (some of which also show the elevator), this is the original depot in the original location. The area is fenced, and there is not any access at this time to the Depot or to the Caboose. However, you can park nearby and look across the wire fence.
The caboose no longer bears any identifying markings or numbers.
This web page identifies the caboose as B&O C-257, and notes that it was repainted in 1998. I found a high school yearbook archive that shows a photo of the freshly-painted caboose with several young men around and on it, and it may be that the students repainted the caboose as a school project.
