At the village of Leynar, where the river Leynará flows into the sea, there is a fine sandy beach. On a summerday when the sun is shining it is possible to swim in the clean but rather cold water. It is used by locals as well as tourists. Apart from the sandy beach, hiking trails and some Bed and Breakfast, there are no facilities.

The Faroe Islands are located in the Gulf Stream and this means that the average temperature is 3 degrees in winter and 11 degrees in summer. (
