Pub sign outside the Bulls Head Inn, Foolow. The sign depicts, unsurprisingly, a bulls head, with a ring through its nose.

The Bulls Head Inn, Foolow, is the lone survivor of five village inns.

"Traditional family owned village pub with oak beams, flag floor and oak panelled restaurant. Large choice of traditional food. Opposite the village green with pond and resident ducks."

Across the road from the pub, next to the cross, is a bull ring. Here animals would have been tethered before being set upon by dogs in the mistaken belief that it tenderised the meat prior to slaughter. Bull baiting was declared illegal in 1835.
