The biggest luxuries will be the location and the view. But there's much more to Lisbon's brand new five-star hotel: yesterday the Myriad, the hotel that accompanies the Vasco da Gama Tower up to 140 meters high, opened.

There is a Dubai touch in the presentations of this new hotel, destined to be an instant icon of Lisbon and Portuguese hotels: "majestic" and "a glimpse of the future" is how the Sana group, which manages Myriad, starts the call. In the various online presences , the hotel even counted down to the opening, appealing to slogans such as "the beginning of a legend".
The Myriad's location is, in fact, superb, with the Tagus River at its feet and the tallest building in the country, the Vasco da Gama Tower.
In its 22 floors, the hotel, designed by the architect Nuno Leónidas, rises to 140 meters. Intended for luxury tourism - but also for the meetings and seminars sector -, it opened yesterday to guests on a pre-opening basis.
It has 186 rooms and suites, two restaurants (one panoramic at the top of the building), spa (on the top floor) and a congress center next door.
Along the building, which, without touching it, follows the tower that symbolizes Expo 98 and has become the key image of modern Lisbon, a panoramic elevator allows the eye to navigate over the Tagus estuary, Parque das Nações and beyond.
