Le panneau indique "Hotel Alexandra", autrefois, les noms d'hôtels étaient sur les murs de briques. Je suppose que c'était plus facile et moins coûteux de le peindre sur les murs que de faire faire un panneau. Maintenant l'ancien hôtel Alexandra est un restaurant le "Vintage Pub and Grill", qui occupe le bar et le salon de l'hôtel Alexandra.
L'extérieur du bâtiment conserve son caractère d'origine et reflète non seulement une propriété et une entreprise revitalisées, mais aussi un élément revitalisé de l'histoire du centre-ville de Drumheller.

Charlie Gutterson et Alexander Van Swelm ont financé la construction du bâtiment en 1937. Il a été construit par un groupe de maçons de Drumheller qui ont posé la brique par sections. Il y avait là des maçons : Bill Holoston, Jim Parsons et Fred Langford. A eux trois, chacun construit un tiers du bâtiment. Fred Langford a eu l'idée de construire les trois diamants que l'on peut encore voir sous la fenêtre. À cette époque, les maçons étaient également les architectes et on supposait qu'ils savaient ce qui serait approprié pour le bâtiment grâce à l'expérience passée. Chacun d'eux a accepté de fabriquer l'un des diamants simplement pour le divertissement. Quand ils l'ont terminé, ils ont décidé que le meilleur diamant était celui fabriqué par M. Holoston; celui du milieu.
La partie taverne du bâtiment a également été construite en 1937 après que le bâtiment à ossature de bois d'origine, surnommé le "Log Cabin", ait brûlé dans un incendie. La taverne construite à partir de briques de tuiles, qui n'est pas destinée à la construction mais à des fins esthétiques. Cette brique s'appelait, comme la plupart des autres briques utilisées à Drumheller, de Medicine Hat, et la brique de tuiles était utilisée parce qu'elle était beaucoup moins chère13. à sa conception originale.
Une fois, un policier a reçu un appel de l'Alexandra qu'il y avait des problèmes dans le bar, comme c'était souvent le cas. Il est venu là-bas en s'attendant à un premier combat typique, mais à la place, il a vu une énorme femme de six pieds cinq trois cents livres tenant le barman par le col de sa chemise. Son surnom était, à juste titre, "Big Annie" et elle dirigeait une maison de mauvaise réputation à Drumheller.
"Mettez-le à terre", a dit le policier. "Vous pourriez lui faire du mal."
Big Annie posa le barman et souleva le policier par le col de sa chemise.
"Tu es mignon petit meunier," dit-elle.
Après cela, le policier n'a plus eu de problème avec elle, et lorsqu'il a abordé quelqu'un dans la rue pour vérifier ce qu'il faisait, elle s'est dirigée vers lui et lui a dit : "Est-ce que ces gars vous causent des problèmes ?"
Lorsque la cabane en rondins a brûlé en 1934, "papa" Faulkner, le directeur résident, a perdu la vie dans l'incendie. M. Faulkner et M. Nichol, un autre pensionnaire, dormaient dans des chambres voisines. Lorsque l'alarme de l'incendie a retenti dans le bâtiment, les couloirs étaient déjà enfumés. Ils sont sortis de leurs chambres mais M. Faulkner est revenu prendre quelques possessions dans la panique. À ce moment-là, la fumée dans le couloir était bien trop dense pour descendre dans le couloir. M. Nichol a essayé de faire passer M. Faulkner par la fenêtre. C'était une tâche difficile car M. Faulkner pesait plus de trois cents livres. Finalement, M. Nichol a abandonné et a été tiré en lieu sûr par la fenêtre sur le toit. Les pompiers ont attaché une corde au bras de M. Faulkner et ont tenté de le tirer par la fenêtre, mais il était trop gros. Finalement, la corde a déchiré la peau de son bras et ils ont dû essayer autre chose. Les pompiers ont percé un trou dans le côté du bâtiment, mais à ce moment-là, M. Faulkner avait tranquillement expiré à cause de l'inhalation de fumée.
Ce bar faisant partie du bâtiment est rapidement devenu le surnom de "The Zoo" en raison de sa nature tapageuse.
À la fin des années 1980, le propriétaire de la taverne avait profité de ce nom et en avait fait un bar à thème, en utilisant le surnom comme son vrai. Le bar est ensuite devenu l'Octane au début des années 2000 et en 2010, la famille Pappas a rénové le bâtiment en "Vintage Bar and Grill".
En 2014, le nom a changé pour "the Recovery" et en juin 2017, les propriétaires du Recovery Taphouse ont changé de nom pour Vintage Tap House - Pub & Grill. L'automne 2018 a marqué l'ouverture du nouveau Vintage No. 2 Kitchen & Bar et le changement de marque du taphouse en Vintage No. 1 Pub & Grill."
