The First Church of Evans was founded on July 4, 1818 and was the first house of worship south and west of Buffalo, NY. The 5.5-acre property includes the church, cemeteries, a farmhouse, and historic Ingersoll barn. It began as a Presbyterian denomination. In 1867, the congregation was a pioneer in the ecumenical movement and became a non-denominational Christian church. To date, the church continues in this capacity.
The present church building was erected in 1915 and is a copy of the original structure that had been burned in the late 1800s. In 2006 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
