This outhouse is beside "Hot Potato School" at Chase Farm in Lincoln, Rhode Island. The small wooden privy is 15 feet from the south side of a one-room schoolhouse, known as Pullen's Corner School, which dates from circa 1850. It is about 6 feet wide and 8 feet long, has a shed roof and a two-hole bench.
A nearby historical marker gives background on the school's names: "Pullen's Corner School became commonly known as the 'Hot Potato School' because the superintendent was amused by the fact that the teacher, Estelle Collier, would cook potatoes donated from a local farm so that the children could have hot lunches."
