A life-size white stone statue of John Hamilton Gray stands on a circular stone base. A bearded Gray is depicted wearing a knee length overcoat, a waistcoat, trousers and shoe. He is standing with his right foot forward. His right arm is bent up and his right hand is under his chin. His left hand is under the elbow of his right arm.
A plaque on the circular base is inscribed:
John Hamilton Gray
Prince Edward Island
Île-du-Prince Édouard
An oval plaque next to his statue contains his portrait from the McCord Museum and the following inscription:
John Hamilton Gray
PREMIER PREMIER MINISTRE
Prince Edward Island Île-du-Prince Édouard
Chairing the conference was Island Premier,
Colonel John Gray. Having served in India
and South Africa, Gray was the most well
travelled of the delegates. Despite initial
lack of interest, he became convinced
that federal union might be worthwhile.
