The memorial stands in a park dedicated to Bar Harbor sailors who lost their lives at sea. The park is located between historic West Street and Frenchman Bay, near the La Rochelle Mansion and Museum in Bar Harbor, Maine.

The memorial consists of a plaque on a rock next to a nautical mast and an anchor. It reads:
"THIS PARK IS DEDICATED TO OUR SEAFARERS,
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
THOSE WHOSE LIVES HAVE BEEN LOST.
"ETERNAL FATHER, STRONG TO SAVE
