A plaque on the back of the box notes this an Eagle Scout project, the work of Julie Tavares with Troop 147G in nearby Azle, completed October 30, 2021. It also notes her as the first Eagle Scout of Troop 147G and the first female Eagle Scout of the Lone Star District. This is one of at least three such book exchanges that she placed in the area: Another can be found at nearby Opal Jo Jennings Memorial Park a few blocks away, and the third is a few miles away at William Houston Memorial Park.
The book exchange sees significant traffic, but it is not filled to capacity. The box itself leaks a bit and could use some maintenance, but it is in otherwise very good condition.
