The inscriptions read -
Given
By Mr Roger Wilkson Minister of
wormhill to the poor people of tad
ington Chappelry twelve peney
worth of white bread to be dealt
every Lords day for ever to such as
come to frequent divine servie or
are aged paid out of one Close call
ed bothem Close two beast grasses
in prestliff Lees & one yard called
rippton yard & by the name of
Tymm Land.
Left by Charles Hayward in the Year 1773
Five Shillings to the poor of the Liberty of
Taddington to be distributed in Bread
on the 4th of January Yearly for ever. And
to be paid out of the Housing now in the
possession of Dorothy Hayward a Croft
and Garden on the backsid of the said
House and a Croft in the Hades also in
her possession.
Left by William Higginbottom and
Ellen his Widow Ten Shillings a Year to the
poor of this Liberty to be distributed ever
Good Friday Yearly for ever and to be
paid out of some Land lying at the
Banktop at Priestcliff Ditch known
by the name of Tymms Crofts.


The other reads -

Michael White of Taddington and
in the County of Derby and Parish of
Bakewell Yeoman did by his last
will and Testament bearing date the
6th Day of February 1798, Give devise
and bequeath for ever the sum of
Fifteen Pounds Per Annum for the Ed-
ucation and Instruction of twelve Poor
Children in Reading, Writing and Accounts
and he the said Michael White at Tadding-
ton aforesaid Did likewise Give the sum
of Forty Shillings to be distributed amo-
ngst the most needy Persons of the
Township of Taddington aforesaid on the
24th Day of December Yearly for ever by
the Trustees nominated and appointed
by the said Will and made all his land at
Taddington chargeable with the Payments thereof.

The School for the above Institution was established by Alice
and Martha White sisters and Devisees to the late Michael
White aforesaid Spinsters the 5th day of April 1799.
