A little over 1.5 kilometres in length, the Lower Joe Louis Trail first runs southeast from Redstone Drive and through sections of the Redstone Resort Golf Course, then generally east to another trailhead at the entrance to the golf course. Somewhat overgrown at top section, near the creek and golf course, most of the trail is narrow and heads generally downward for most of its length. There are small level sections, moderately steep and fairly steep grades throughout.

About a third of the way down the trail it meets the Rubberhead Trail, which continues southward. One of the older trails in the area, Rubberhead offers a good connection between the Railgrade and Louie Joe trails.

From this trailhead the Upper Joe Louis Trail runs northward for 1 kilometre. On all of Rossland's multi-use trails bikers must yield to hikers and runners, while runners must yield to hikers.

There is only a moderate amount of street parking nearby, on narrow streets, with no off street parking.

Here is the most comprehensive map of Hiking & Biking Trails in Rossland.

With a deep history of biking on old railway beds, miners' trails and whisky running routes, Rossland is one of the founding bike destinations in BC and is also known as the Mountain Biking Capital of Canada. Rossland has full-time, paid trails crew that maintain and label our huge myriad of trails, over 200 kms of them in fact.

The extensive single-track system and variety of rides lure adventurers from all over the world. Novices to experts will certainly find something to suit their skills. For easier rides, explore the hundreds of kilometers of old wagon roads, rail grades and pack trail left over from the town's mining heyday. Serious bikers can spend a day riding the infamous Seven Summits Trail (see below), or one of the many downhill single track trails accessible right from town.
