Nike D-26 missile base was active from 1955 until 1968 on the east end of Belle Isle in the Detroit River. Sitting in the field between the outer circle road of the island and the Livingstone Memorial Lighthouse then, there is no trace of the former installation. There is a walking trail around the peninsula but the center is overrun with thatch making nothing visible as my pictures show.
