PT: "Conjunto de painéis de cerâmica em relevo que revestem a parede que suporta o terraço em que assenta a Praça da República, e a casa da Cultura, na sua frente para o Canal Central, Rua do Clube dos Galitos.
Todos eles representam aspectos tradicionais do modus vivendis das gentes da região aveirense: a apanha do moliço, a pesca na Ria, os marnotos, as salineiras, etc.
A mistura de cores aqui utilizada representa bem a realidade da vida laboral destas pessoas, nomeadamente nas suas vestes e utensílios utilizados.
Historial
CÂNDIDO TELES: Filho de Amadeu Teles e de Maria Vitorina Patoilo, António Cândido Teles nasceu na freguesia de S. Salvador, no Arenal, em Ílhavo, no ano de 1921. Entre 1927 e 1932 frequentou o ensino primário nas Escolas da Gafanha da Encarnação e na Escola Nova de Ílhavo.
Oriundo de uma família de pintores e ceramistas, a sua vocação pelas artes revelou-se bastante cedo. De facto, enquanto frequentava o Liceu Nacional José Estevão (1932-1937), obtém duas menções honrosas com aguarelas com o tema “Flores” e começa a despertar para a pintura de Fausto Sampaio (pintor de Anadia). Em 1939 é apresentado a este artista começando a acompanhá-lo nas suas sessões de pintura e recebendo ensinamentos dele. Nos dois anos seguintes, na Universidade de Coimbra, faz os preparatórios para a Academia Militar (então designada Escola do Exército), onde ingressa, em 1941, para frequentar o Curso de Infantaria.
Durante mais de quarenta anos conviveu em ambientes distintos, quer no continente, Açores e Madeira, quer em África: Guiné, Angola e Moçambique, o que lhe aferiu uma série de mutações a nível técnico e temático das suas obras. Contudo, Aveiro e tudo o que se liga à cidade, nunca deixou de ser a sua temática predilecta.
Casou-se em Março de 1948, com Maria Júlia de Oliveira Mano, na Igreja Matriz em Ílhavo. Desta união nasceu, em Junho, do ano seguinte o seu primeiro e único filho, João Cândido.
Realizou dezenas de exposições individuais, das quais se destacam as retrospectivas “30 Anos de Pintura” no Museu de Évora (1969) e “40 Anos de Pintura” no Museu de Aveiro (1979).
Juntamente com outros artistas locais de renome ajudou a fundar o Movimento literário “Aveiro-Arte”, em 1971.
Em 1977 foi convidado pelo Presidente Geral da Cruz Vermelha de então, para reactivar a acção da Cruz Vermelha no distrito de Aveiro, tornando-se Presidente da Delegação em regime de voluntariado. Em 1990 é designado Presidente Honorário, tendo sido condecorado com a “Cruz Vermelha de Benemerência”. Já em 1993, foi agraciado com a medalha de Mérito Cultural Internacional pelo Lyons Club Santa Joana Princesa de Aveiro.
Dois anos depois, foi condecorado pelo Chefe de Estado com o grau de Oficial da Ordem de Santiago da Espada, por mérito artístico.
Aquando a comemoração dos seus 75 anos, em Março de 1996, a Câmara Municipal de Aveiro fez-lhe uma homenagem editando a sua autobiografia.
Cândido Teles faleceu a 31 de Outubro de 1999, aos 78 anos de idade."

CÂNDIDO TELES: Son of Amadeu Teles and Maria Vitorina Patoilo, António Cândido Teles was born in the parish of S. Salvador, in Arenal, in Ílhavo, in 1921. Between 1927 and 1932 he attended primary school at the Gafanha da Encarnação and at Escola Nova de Ílhavo.
Coming from a family of painters and potters, his vocation for the arts was revealed at an early age. In fact, while attending the Liceu Nacional José Estevão (1932-1937), he received two honorable mentions with watercolors with the theme “Flowers” ??and began to awaken to the painting of Fausto Sampaio (painter from Anadia). In 1939, he is introduced to this artist, starting to accompany him in his painting sessions and receiving teachings from him. In the following two years, at the University of Coimbra, he prepares for the Military Academy (then called Army School), where he enters, in 1941, to attend the Infantry Course.
For more than forty years, he lived in different environments, both on the mainland, Azores and Madeira, and in Africa: Guinea, Angola and Mozambique, which gave him a series of changes at the technical and thematic level of his works. However, Aveiro and everything connected to the city has never ceased to be his favorite theme.
He married in March 1948, with Maria Júlia de Oliveira Mano, at Igreja Matriz in Ílhavo. From this union, in June, the following year, their first and only child, João Cândido, was born.
He held dozens of solo exhibitions, including the retrospectives “30 Years of Painting” at the Museum of Évora (1969) and “40 Years of Painting” at the Museum of Aveiro (1979).
Together with other renowned local artists, he helped to found the Literary Movement “Aveiro-Arte”, in 1971.
In 1977, he was invited by the President General of the Red Cross at the time, to reactivate the Red Cross action in the district of Aveiro, becoming President of the Delegation on a voluntary basis. In 1990 he is designated Honorary President, having been awarded the “Red Cross of Benemerence”. In 1993, he was awarded the Medal of International Cultural Merit by the Lyons Club Santa Joana Princesa de Aveiro.
Two years later, he was decorated by the Head of State with the degree of Officer of the Order of Santiago da Espada, for artistic merit.
On the occasion of his 75th birthday, in March 1996, the Aveiro City Council paid him a tribute by publishing his autobiography.
Cândido Teles died on October 31, 1999, at the age of 78."
