Memphis is a small city that sits in both Macomb and St. Clair Counties in Michigan. The population is almost 1200 as compared to Memphis, Tennessee which is over 600,000. Memphis became a village in 1865 but was not formalized as a city until 1953.

Memphis is the location of the creation of “The Thing”, the first automobile manufactured in Michigan and is commemorated by a historical marker in the city.
