Le Puyrabier est un hameau très ancien. Il est déjà cité en 1286. En 1334 ce lieu est appelé « arbergamentum de puteo ralerii », traduit par un latiniste comme « le fief du mont de la source de la rivière ». Les maisons sont en effet bâties sur le flanc d’un petit coteau dominant une fontaine très connue dans la région : la fontaine du Puyrabier, également appelée "Source bleue". Cette fontaine est l’une des sources de la Belle, une petite rivière de 6,5Km, affluent de la Clouère, qu'elle rejoint à Gençay. Elle a la particularité d’avoir une eau toujours bleue dûe aux algues microscopiques et aux carbonates. Et bien entendu, comme la couleur inhabituelle de cette eau intrigue, une légende est donc née (voir WM16T9J)
Bien que la source se situe sur une propriété privée, il est possible de l'observer depuis le chemin juste avant l'entréée de la ferme du Puyrabier.

Le Puyrabier is a very old hamlet. It is already mentioned in 1286. In 1334 this place is called "arbergamentum de puteo ralerii", translated by a Latinist as "the stronghold of the mount of the source of the river". The houses are in fact built on the side of a small hill overlooking a well-known fountain in the region: the Puyrabier fountain, also called "Blue Source". This fountain is one of the sources of the Belle, a small river of 6.5 km, a tributary of the Clouère, which it joins at Gençay. It has the particularity of having always blue water due to microscopic algae and carbonates. And of course, as the unusual color of this water intrigues, a legend was born (see WM16T9J)
Although the source is located on private property, it is possible to observe it from the path just before the entrance to the Puyrabier farm.
