Cet édifice à vaisseau unique est le témoin d'une forte présence protestante au sein du village suite à l'arrivée et à l'adhésion des Vaudois au début du XVIème.
Le bâtiment actuel, Les deux précédents, l'un détruit sur ordre de Louis XIV en 1663 et l'autre tombé en ruine après une courte existence au XIXe siècle ont fait place au temple d'aujourd'hui. A l'intérieur, une très belle chaire en noyer, fabriquée en 1819 par un menuisier de Saignon et restaurée en 1905, orne le mur nord. Un harmonium datant du 20° siècle de type « Anglo-saxon » en parfait état de fonctionnement est joué systématiquement lors des offices religieux. En 1998 une restauration partielle du bâtiment avait été engagée par la commune, mais depuis l'édifice s'était sensiblement dégradé. Sous l'impulsion de l 'Association mottassine «Convivialité et Culture », la municipalité a entrepris début 2015 une nouvelle rénovation qui permet désormais de disposer d'un bâtiment conforme aux standards actuels de confort et de sécurité.
Parallèlement l’Association, grâce au soutien de tous (concerts, exposition, dons, vente de brochures, vente des anciens bancs) fait l’acquisition en 2016 de 100 chaises très confortables pour remplacer les anciens bancs en très mauvais état. En mai 2017, la section temple se sépare d’A.C.C. et crée une Association autonome "Les amis du temple Mottassin" qui va continuer la récolte de fonds par des manifestations culturelles afin de poursuivre l’amélioration du confort et de l’esthétique intérieur (restauration de la chaire, de la porte principale, etc..).

This single-vessel building bears witness to a strong Protestant presence in the village following the arrival and adhesion of the Vaudois at the beginning of the 16th century.
The current building, The two previous ones, one destroyed by order of Louis XIV in 1663 and the other fallen into ruin after a short existence in the 19th century, gave way to today's temple. Inside, a very beautiful walnut pulpit, made in 1819 by a carpenter from Saignon and restored in 1905, adorns the north wall. A 20th century harmonium of the “Anglo-Saxon” type in perfect working order is systematically played during religious services. In 1998 a partial restoration of the building was undertaken by the municipality, but since then the building had deteriorated significantly. At the instigation of the Association mottassine "Friendliness and Culture", the municipality undertook a new renovation at the beginning of 2015 which now makes it possible to have a building that complies with current standards of comfort and safety.
At the same time the Association, thanks to the support of all (concerts, exhibition, donations, sale of brochures, sale of old benches) acquired in 2016 100 very comfortable chairs to replace the old benches in very poor condition. In May 2017, the temple section separated from A.C.C. and creates an autonomous Association "Friends of the Mottassin temple" which will continue to raise funds through cultural events in order to continue improving comfort and interior aesthetics (restoration of the pulpit, the main gate, etc.).
