"La mine de charbon Atlas #3 utilisait des wagons en bois de deux tonnes pour transporter son charbon. Un wagon à charbon chargé était amené sur la voie de halage principale par une équipe de poneys ou une locomotive à batterie.
Une fois sur la voie de halage principale, une locomotive à chariot a transporté le voyage des wagons à charbon jusqu'à l'entrée de la mine. Comme les wagons à charbon de la mine Atlas avaient des liens pivotants, ils n'avaient pas besoin d'être dissociés du voyage pour retirer le charbon.
Au lieu de cela, l'Atlas a utilisé un système de décharge rotatif pour retirer le charbon des wagons à charbon. Les wagons à charbon ont été enfermés à l'intérieur du tambour rotatif, puis retournés. Le charbon se déversait ensuite sur une grande plate-forme où il était pesé et trié avant de se diriger vers le culbuteur.
La mine de charbon historique Atlas a préservé et interprète la riche histoire minière de la vallée de Drumheller. Située sur l'autoroute 10 à East Coulee, la mine de charbon Atlas est une ressource historique de l'Alberta."
