FR Situation
L'étang de la Bonde est un plan d'eau situé entre Cabrières-d'Aigues et la Motte-d'Aigues dans le département de Vaucluse. L'étang de la Bonde qui est le plus grand plan d'eau du Luberon est géré par la Société du canal de Provence. L'eau n'est pas potable et sert pour l'irrigation.
Le plan d'eau, bordé de roselières, d'une superficie de 30 hectares et d'une profondeur de 2 à 5 mètres, est partagé entre les communes de Cabrières-d'Aigues, la Motte-d'Aigues et Sannes, et est reconnu pour sa richesse entomologique.
L'étang se situe sur le domaine privé du château de la Bonde. Il est alimenté par la source du Mirail qui apparaît au pied du Luberon.

Histoire
Le seigneur Fouquet d'Agoult, baron de Sault, chambellan du roi René d'Anjou, comte de Provence, décide de créer une réserve d'eau pour son château de La Tour-d'Aigues et fait construire un aqueduc au xve siècle. Une grande bastide est alors construite sur le bord de l'étang, à l'emplacement actuel du « château de la Bonde ». L'étang ainsi constitué fut le point d'alimentation d'un réseau d'irrigation pour toute la vallée d'Aigues, contribuant à l'expansion de l'agriculture.
Issue du domaine des comtes de Forcalquier, la baronnie de La Tour-d'Aigues est passé des Sabran à la puissante famille provençale des d'Agoult, puis par mariage aux Bouliers-Cental, qui font construire le magnifique château Renaissance de La Tour-d'Aigues, dont hérite le Maréchal de Créquy, gendre de Lesdiguières. La baronnie est achetée au XVIIIème siècle par les Bruny de la Tour. L'un des fleurons du domaine du Président de Bruny, grand agronome du siècle des Lumières, est l'étang de la Bonde, célèbre comme lieu d'élevage de câpres chambrées. Dans la première moitié du XIXe siècle, le domaine de la Bonde est encore propriété de sa fille, la marquise de Caumont (1767-1850), ainsi que la plupart des bois du Lubéron.

Équipements
Le plan d'eau est ouvert à la baignade toute l'année et est surveillé à partir du 1er juillet jusqu'au 31 août par un maître nageur certifié sur la plage principale côté ouest de l'étang face au camping. Grâce à un zodiac, la totalité du plan d'eau est surveillé et sécurisé. L'usage de canoë ou de petite embarcation n'est autorisé que sur la partie longeant la plage du camping. Il faut noter que selon l'intensité des précipitations et le débit de l'Eze durant la période hivernale, l'étang voit son niveau varier de saison en saison. Il n'est pas rare que les plages soient noyées sous les eaux (2010, 2013) ou au contraire que le niveau d'eau soit très bas pendant tout l'été. L'entrée du parking de cette plage est payant durant la période estivale mais on peut se garer librement vers la digue sud sur le parking du restaurant du lac. Un autre accès est possible à l'est du lac après le château. Un snack extérieur et une buvette, à côté du camping, sont ouverts en haute saison. Quatre courts de tennis sont à disposition toute l'année.

Activités de plage
Tranquille hors saison et propice aux balades à travers les pins d'Alep qui bordent l'étang, ce lieu est très fréquenté dès que les beaux jours arrivent. Hormis la baignade, on peut y pratiquer le canoë, la pêche, le pédalo et tous les jeux de plage habituels. La pratique de la planche à voile est possible mais il faut savoir que le plan d'eau est abrité du vent dominant (Mistral NO) par une colline au nord du plan d'eau (absence de location).
Traditionnellement, les riverains viennent y pique-niquer le week-end en famille à l'ombre des arbres bordant la plage ouest. D'importants travaux d'abattage et d'élagage le long des rives jouxtant le camping ont été entrepris et redonnent à cette plage des zones ensoleillées jusqu'au soir.
La pratique du naturisme est autorisée sur la rive est. Ce lieu assez couru au début des années 2000 a vu sa fréquentation disparaître à cause de plusieurs aménagements le long de la rive de l'étang, mais a tendance à retrouver une population de naturistes locaux et provenant du camping voisin depuis 2010.

The Etang de la Bonde is a body of water located between Cabrières-d'Aigues and La Motte-d'Aigues in the department of Vaucluse. The Bonde pond, which is the largest body of water in the Luberon, is managed by the Société du canal de Provence. The water is not drinkable and is used for irrigation.

History
Lord Fouquet d'Agoult, Baron de Sault, chamberlain of King René d'Anjou, Count of Provence, decided to create a water reserve for his castle of La Tour-d'Aigues and had an aqueduct built in the 15th century. A large bastide was then built on the edge of the pond, on the current site of the "Château de la Bonde". The pond thus formed was the supply point for an irrigation network for the entire Aigues valley, contributing to the expansion of agriculture.
Issued from the domain of the Counts of Forcalquier, the barony of La Tour-d'Aigues passed from the Sabrans to the powerful Provençal family of the Agoults, then by marriage to the Bouliers-Cental, who built the magnificent Renaissance castle of La Tour- d'Aigues, inherited by Maréchal de Créquy, son-in-law of Lesdiguières. The barony was purchased in the 18th century by the Bruny de la Tour family. One of the jewels of the estate of President de Bruny, a great agronomist of the Age of Enlightenment, is the Bonde pond, famous as a breeding ground for chambered capers. In the first half of the 19th century, the Domaine de la Bonde was still owned by his daughter, the Marquise de Caumont (1767-1850), as well as most of the Lubéron woods.

Equipment
The body of water is open for swimming all year round and is supervised from July 1 until August 31 by a certified lifeguard on the main beach on the west side of the pond opposite the campsite. Thanks to a zodiac, the entire body of water is monitored and secured. The use of canoe or small boat is only authorized on the part along the beach of the campsite. It should be noted that depending on the intensity of rainfall and the flow of the Eze during the winter period, the pond sees its level vary from season to season. It is not uncommon for the beaches to be submerged under water (2010, 2013) or, on the contrary, for the water level to be very low throughout the summer. The entrance to the parking lot of this beach is paying during the summer period but you can park freely towards the south dike in the parking lot of the lake restaurant. Another access is possible to the east of the lake after the castle. An outdoor snack bar and a refreshment bar, next to the campsite, are open in high season. Four tennis courts are available all year round.

Beach activities
Quiet out of season and conducive to walks through the Aleppo pines bordering the pond, this place is very popular as soon as the good weather arrives. Apart from swimming, you can practice canoeing, fishing, pedal boating and all the usual beach games. Windsurfing is possible but you should know that the body of water is sheltered from the prevailing wind (Mistral NO) by a hill to the north of the body of water (no rental).
Traditionally, local residents come here for family picnics on weekends in the shade of the trees bordering the west beach. Significant felling and pruning work along the banks adjoining the campsite has been undertaken and gives this beach sunny areas until the evening.
The practice of naturism is authorized on the east bank. This fairly popular place in the early 2000s saw its attendance disappear due to several developments along the shore of the pond, but has tended to find a population of local naturists and from the neighboring campsite since 2010.
