This public park has areas of open grassland, lots of mature trees and some formal flower beds.
It also has a children's playground, boating lake, tennis courts, sensory garden and this rose garden.
The park is maintained partly by Redcar Council but also by volunteers that look after the formal gardens.

There is the following sign at the eastern end of the rose garden.

Memorial Rose Garden

Liz was the inspiration driving the transformation this once neglected
part of the park into the beautiful garden you see today; now well
used and enjoyed by all.
She founded the Friends of Locke Park volunteer gardening
group and brought us home baking every week.
If you would like to continue her work, caring for
the roses and floral areas of the park, please give us
a try. We meet here every Friday at 10am
The rose garden is divided into a number of beds, each with a different variety of rose. This layout gives big blocks of colour.
