"THIS GUN, A 7.2 INCH HOWITZER, IS SIMILAR TO ONE USED IN EUROPE BY THE 59TH NEWFOUNDLAND HEAVY REGIMENT ROYAL ARTILLERY, FROM 1940 TO 1945. IT WAS A GIFT TO THE PEOPLE OF NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR, FROM THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT AND THE ROYAL ARTILLERY."
Royal Canadian Legion branch #56 (Pleasantville) is located at 930 The Boulevard. The parking lot is on the east side of the legion building. There is an interpretive trail north of the parking lot. Follow the closed road on the former military base. You will encounter various signs of history along this trail. One of those signs is quoted above.
