While in the Azores, I was looking for the geodetic points to fill the hole in the category grid. In fact I came a cross only one, on the trail from São Vicente Ferreira to Calhetas, along the northern shoreline of the Sao Miguel island. It did not look typical - just a square block, sitting on the top of the hill. Still, I decided to take photos, write down the coordinates and check it online. According to (
visit link) in fact this is a geodetic point!
It sits on the top of the cliff near an interesting geological formation - a hole in a cliff. Take a look down and you will see the ocean roaring just under your feet. There is a viewpoint with rails if you want to observe O Buraco de São Pedro (the Hole of Saint Peter) and a geologic point just above it. You can also take a narrow path to get right to it but I will not recommend it as there is a high risk of falling.
